You just can’t depend on your understanding of body language to interpret the President Biden inauguration speech, let alone infer any significant meaning beyond the words themselves. It’s simply not fit for purpose.
Sometimes you just know what not to say in your speech. But then, there are others who seem blindly oblivious to the words they use in their speech. President Duterte of the Philippines certainly has form in this area. As does, Fikile Mbalula, South Africa’s Police Minister who has a firm grip on the matter in hand, yet seems oblivious to the reach of his words.
