We've not discussed many of the recent President Biden speeches. And by recent we mean any of his speeches in the last 12 months. That's not normally like us because an American President is usually a rich source of good public speaking commentary—and top tips for best practice.
For example we noted the President Trump approach to rehearsing your speech and using autocue. And with President Obama we noted his homage to Dr. Martin Luther King and his ability to handle staging mishaps. Just brilliant!
Yet we've avoided most of President Biden's speeches. Why?
President Biden Speeches are Concerning
Well, it's because we are concerned about him. That concern means that we want to hold back from commenting on his many public utterances. Since our commentary typically involves nitpicking, criticism plus praise and approval. And whilst we are prepared for the latter we can't do the former with President Biden. Certainly not in good conscience.
Because, in our view, something just doesn't seem quite right. Whether it's the recent tripping incident at the Air Force Academy in Colorado or last week's "God save the Queen" moment in his speech in Connecticut.
God save the Queen
Or, his announcement of an Indian Ocean railway during his speech at a League of Conservation Voters event in Washington D.C.
All in all, we're concerned.
Thus we're holding back from our commentary and will continue to do so. Perhaps the State of the Union speech in 2024 will spike our interest. After all, it's a set-piece speech so what could possibly go wrong? We'll see. But, in the meantime we'll pass on a commentary on the President Biden speeches.
However, beyond the President Biden speeches, you'll find plenty of public speaking tips for your next speech or public meeting with our series of top tips. And when you need to take your own public speaking skills that little bit further then why not consider some in-depth training or coaching.
